No idea where we go from here
As with any time of life things are uncertain, but this pandemic has changed everything. For me it has changed into an INTENSE wanderlust, I want to travel! I have told my husband when this is over if we make it out okay and alive that we ARE going on a BIG vacation! Most of our vacations are small trips within 3 hours of our house, and maybe we'll be gone overnight. For this though I want 4-5 days minimum...I want distance....I want cheesy roadside attractions.
I am dreaming of life beyond this pandemic. Now of course my dream has always been to hop on a plane or cruise and head to Italy...but in truth my bigger dream is to hit the open road and stop at every weird roadside attraction I can find. Think "Worlds biggest ball of twine" or "Here IT is...what is IT?" with mysterious signs pointing you to a truckstop. Usually "It" ends up being a mummified cat or something disappointing, but I love that stuff. Why? Because I read about these roadside attractions in the back of magazines as a kid and was fascinated. Yes I was the kid that wanted to buy "Sea Monkeys", not knowing they were simply brine shrimp sold to unsuspecting people who bought into the con. In truth I have never felt it was a con...not to me. To me it was magic, even if it was bait and switch...it was still magic. So I want to see all these roadside attractions my grandparents saw or knew of before they are gone that were advertised as "The most amazing thing on earth!" Of course it was a cheesy roadside attraction, but it was also kind of hope sold in ticket form. You knew there really wasn't an amazing life changing thing stowed behind the curtain, but you suspended belief and enjoyed how cheesy and outside the norm it was for that brief moment.
Pandemic wanderlust....I am sure I am not alone in this. I have no idea when we can go because we are at a minimum of 6 months to a year before a vaccine comes, but I will make that road trip. Biggest ball of twine here I come..........
