Numbers update...Not flattening the curve

Image
Last time I posted we had 8 cases of Covid in Winton...We are now at 58 By now we should have been in lock down long enough to "Flatten the curve". Now many of us took this very seriously and stayed home and obeyed advice....but thousands out there just DO NOT CARE and think this is an infringement on their rights. You know what? I agree! Being forced to stay home and closing all businesses is PROFOUNDLY un-American...you know what? This is a VIRUS and it DOES NOT CARE. We had about 2-3 weeks of semi-normalcy (socially distanced, and always wearing masks), and now because these idiots feel that their GOD GIVEN RIGHT to go to a bar or a large gathering is important, we ALL will have to go BACK into lock down. Our county is still *technically open* but today the Governor closed all the neighboring counties. We learned the hard way last time that we need to stock up before that happens. We are re-stocking tomorrow. I am still sewing masks everyday, the need is not dec...

I lost a friend

Elin Roos. She was a fabulously stylish former stock trader on Wall Street in NYC....we became friends on a wedding website; Her daughter was planning her weddding at the same time as I was planning mine. We also both happened to be recovering from surgery at the same time and struck up a friendship. She had had health issues but would have been okay. She caught COVID and died after technically recovering, the after effects were too much. I shall miss my friend.

No idea where we go from here

As with any time of life things are uncertain, but this pandemic has changed everything. For me it has changed into an INTENSE wanderlust, I want to travel! I have told my husband when this is over if we make it out okay and alive that we ARE going on a BIG vacation! Most of our vacations are small trips within 3 hours of our house, and maybe we'll be gone overnight. For this though I want 4-5 days minimum...I want distance....I want cheesy roadside attractions. I am dreaming of life beyond this pandemic. Now of course my dream has always been to hop on a plane or cruise and head to Italy...but in truth my bigger dream is to hit the open road and stop at every weird roadside attraction I can find. Think "Worlds biggest ball of twine" or "Here IT is...what is IT?" with mysterious signs pointing you to a truckstop. Usually "It" ends up being a mummified cat or something disappointing, but I love that stuff. Why? Because I read about these roadside attr...

We are enjoying life, even though life is far from normal. The state is opening back up again, which I'm sure economically is a godsend but health wise it'll end up being the perfect storm for this pandemic to rise again in higher numbers. They say in the fall the worst wave will hit, so we are taking the next month to two months to enjoy life as much as we can. Today was a day trip to Yosemite National Park, one of my stepsons favorite places on earth :)   I keep feeling like we need to cram in quality time, and hurry up and stock up for the winter. My husband has said the same, so at least we are on the same page. We enjoy our day, stock up on an item, and research other things we should do tomorrow before heading to bed. We are living....but living with the knowledge that a storm is brewing and we need to be prepared. Let's say the virus DOES go away or a vaccine is put out, the only side effect to our preparations will be that we're REALLY ready now for an...

Changes

My gym opens up this week...and in exciting news we are going OUT for dinner! It's been 4-5 months since we were waited on, i've been cooking all of our meals. We will of course wear our masks and eat outside away from others, but for now...a TINY bit of NORMALCY!
