Numbers update...Not flattening the curve

Last time I posted we had 8 cases of Covid in Winton...We are now at 58
By now we should have been in lock down long enough to "Flatten the curve". Now many of us took this very seriously and stayed home and obeyed advice....but thousands out there just DO NOT CARE and think this is an infringement on their rights. You know what? I agree! Being forced to stay home and closing all businesses is PROFOUNDLY un-American...you know what? This is a VIRUS and it DOES NOT CARE.
We had about 2-3 weeks of semi-normalcy (socially distanced, and always wearing masks), and now because these idiots feel that their GOD GIVEN RIGHT to go to a bar or a large gathering is important, we ALL will have to go BACK into lock down.
Our county is still *technically open* but today the Governor closed all the neighboring counties. We learned the hard way last time that we need to stock up before that happens. We are re-stocking tomorrow.
I am still sewing masks everyday, the need is not decreasing. I am still disinfecting our house nighlyt as my new routine...

Everything has changed.
I am however so grateful I picked my spouse. He is wonderful. I hear stories about others in lock down and the fights and domestic violence going on. In our house I maybe get annoyed because my husband talks so much...that's  it. We are a couple in lock step, and thankfully we both agree on each step we need to take to get through this ...at least for the most part.
Tomorrow is our restock day, and then back to lock down. Yes dear fellow Americans, this is all PROFOUNDLY un-American to be in lock down...the virus does not care. Thanks to all the idiots out there we are right back to where we started. Actually we are worse

Stores today

 When the pandemic hit stores were cleaned out of many items they normally have in stock. Slowly a few items came back, but in limited numbers. Now when you go to the grocery store they have disinfectant wipes....but it's all some generic off brand I have never heard of. This is true store wide; some items are consistently back in stock but they are all strange brands, and I'm not exactly sure where they are sourced. Clorox and Lysol wipes are still $75 on Ebay (Normally $6). Also stores have been strategically arranging shelves so they look fully stocked., but if you look closer they just spread out certain items to fill in what would be bare spots on the shelves left by items they still don't have. For the most part things are semi-normal. The stores are still stocked and we go about business as usual....it just takes a minute of looking to realize though that all is not quite as it appears.

Just posting it here so in the future I don't forget what was going on: Today is Sunday, April 26, 2020. - We are at 40 days of social isolation. - The dollar is worth $5.32, the euro $5.77 and the pound $6.54. - Gas is $1.49 for regular & $1.79 for premium(only in Louisiana) - Louisiana currently has 26,140 COVID cases, 1,601 deaths. - US Postal Service - while the rest of the world quarantined, we continued to labor with honor, providing the essential service of connecting the world, and providing our constituents essential (and not so essential) packages. - Schools have been closed since mid March and are teaching remotely on-line. This will continue for the rest of the school year. - We have to stay away from each other more than a meter. There are lines / tapes inside the stores to keep people 6 feet apart. - Bars and restaurants only for home delivery & pick-up. - Parks, beaches and walk-in places are not accessible to the public...

Permanence

 So much of what we do feels cobbled together in rules we made for ourselves: 1. Tiny towns seem safe 2. Specific places feel safe (my gym, Target, the grocery store) 3. We wear masks anywhere. 4. We laugh a little bit (height of the pandemic we didn't laugh and just went through the motions) but it's nothing like the silliness we used to have in our daily interactions. Thankfully ALL of our family (minus my nephew) is vaccinated so we can reasonably gather safely together. The south east US? Not so much; Louisiana, Texas, and Florida are doing awful. I just can't wrap my head around the idea this might stick around...5..10 years, and vaccinations will keep going.  I miss my Mom. I wonder not if I CAN go home for the holidays but if I SHOULD go home. Life has changed permanently. I'm trying to accept that
