Holding out...and random thoughts

 I hope this ends soon.

They say a vaccine is coming in January, but then comes the fighting over who gets it in the first batch. Of course EMT's, Nurses, docs etc should be first, probably teachers too, but who gets the second batch? Who qualifies and just as importantly, who gets to decide who qualifies and why? I keep holding out for January but in truth I know we'll be waiting longer

A thought occurred to me though. There is a ton of conspiracy theories going around about the pandemic in general and also the eventual vaccine. I am SURE they will spout nonsense about "It's engineered to poison us all!" or they'll claim that those who don't qualify for one of the first batches is expendable and that the government is "Thinning the herd". Half of the population is reportedly claiming they don't want the vaccine.

Every situation brings to mind a movie, and more often then not that film is "The Princess Bride"

.

I don't buy any of that. It's a pandemic. This is a global threat and real people are dying across the world. But sure, be bullheaded and refuse a vaccine that may just save you.

I just miss the world outside. I miss having what we need at the store, though scarcity has taught me what I really need and what is just a luxury. I miss going out to dinner and joking around with my mother in law. I miss not wearing a mask and being afraid when someone isn't wearing theirs. I miss so much. I miss not having to disinfect my home every night and having to sanitize my hands many times each time we leave the house for a rare trip to the store. Mostly I miss not being so stressed and worried, the biggest worry for me is how bad things will get when the seasonal flu adds to the COVID infections. It won't be pretty.

We are fine. We are relatively safe...but it takes vigilance to stay that way. So here I sit waiting for a vaccine and feeling like I'm stuck in a battle of wits with the unarmed
