December 15th and December 22nd

 Pfizer's vaccine arrives on the 15th, Moderna's on the 22nd.

The first in line is health care workers (nurses, doctors, caregivers) and then the elderly. After that medically fragile and front line workers.

We have a long way to go...and I'm not sure if I'd be in the fragile group or if my stepson would be (he has severe autism), or if I have to wait until at least April to be vaccinated. The upside though is there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and for once it doesn't seem like it's a train headed straight for us!

 The first shipments of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine will be delivered on December 15, according to an Operation Warp Speed document obtained by CNN on Tuesday.

The document, provided to governors ahead of a call with the Vice President Monday, also estimated the first shipment of Moderna's vaccine will be delivered on December 22.
Those distribution dates are contingent upon a decision by the US Food and Drug Administration to authorize each vaccine for emergency use. Pfizer submitted an application to the FDA on November 20, and Moderna submitted an application on November 30.
The FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee, a panel of independent experts, will meet on December 10 to review Pfizer's data and make a recommendation to the FDA about whether to authorize the vaccine.  
The document outlined a four-day window between December 11 and December 14 for review by the FDA and CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which makes recommendations about who should receive the vaccine first. On December 15, the first doses of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine will be delivered, according to the outline.
Next, the VRBPAC is scheduled to consider Moderna's vaccine on December 17. After a four-day review window from December 18 to December 21, the document stated that the first shipments of Moderna's vaccine are estimated to be delivered on December 22.
The document included a vaccine manufacturing forecast, estimating 22.5 million doses of Pfizer's vaccine and 18 million doses of the Moderna vaccine will be produced in December.

Stores today

 When the pandemic hit stores were cleaned out of many items they normally have in stock. Slowly a few items came back, but in limited numbers. Now when you go to the grocery store they have disinfectant wipes....but it's all some generic off brand I have never heard of. This is true store wide; some items are consistently back in stock but they are all strange brands, and I'm not exactly sure where they are sourced. Clorox and Lysol wipes are still $75 on Ebay (Normally $6). Also stores have been strategically arranging shelves so they look fully stocked., but if you look closer they just spread out certain items to fill in what would be bare spots on the shelves left by items they still don't have. For the most part things are semi-normal. The stores are still stocked and we go about business as usual....it just takes a minute of looking to realize though that all is not quite as it appears.

And it is all true. Just posting it here so in the future I don't forget what was going on: Today is Sunday, April 26, 2020. - We are at 40 days of social isolation. - The dollar is worth $5.32, the euro $5.77 and the pound $6.54. - Gas is $1.49 for regular & $1.79 for premium(only in Louisiana) - Louisiana currently has 26,140 COVID cases, 1,601 deaths. - US Postal Service - while the rest of the world quarantined, we continued to labor with honor, providing the essential service of connecting the world, and providing our constituents essential (and not so essential) packages. - Schools have been closed since mid March and are teaching remotely on-line. This will continue for the rest of the school year. - We have to stay away from each other more than a meter. There are lines / tapes inside the stores to keep people 6 feet apart. - Bars and restaurants only for home delivery & pick-up. - Parks, beaches and walk-in places are not accessible to the public...

Permanence

 So much of what we do feels cobbled together in rules we made for ourselves: 1. Tiny towns seem safe 2. Specific places feel safe (my gym, Target, the grocery store) 3. We wear masks anywhere. 4. We laugh a little bit (height of the pandemic we didn't laugh and just went through the motions) but it's nothing like the silliness we used to have in our daily interactions. Thankfully ALL of our family (minus my nephew) is vaccinated so we can reasonably gather safely together. The south east US? Not so much; Louisiana, Texas, and Florida are doing awful. I just can't wrap my head around the idea this might stick around...5..10 years, and vaccinations will keep going.  I miss my Mom. I wonder not if I CAN go home for the holidays but if I SHOULD go home. Life has changed permanently. I'm trying to accept that
