Options

Now there aren't that many options if you are under 65 to be vaccinated. There are rules right now:

  • Individuals 65 and older
  • Sector populations:
    • Agriculture and food
    • Education and childcare
    • Emergency services

I don't fall into any of those. I am in my late 40's, a fairly normal weight, and I don't work outside the home. In short I am not allowed to get he shot yet, but reports are that on March 15th (10 days from now) they will finally allow people in my group to be vaccinated. We also have two back ups: one is a doctor who put me on their "wait list" (hey, I've ever even been offerred that!) or to stake out vaccination clinics. My doctor said they are willing to give me a note so I can get vaccinated sooner, so now I have to wait for Monday for that and then stake out vaccination clinic notices online, show up at one with the note in hand, and pray they take pity on me.

Why is this so important right now? Because I am due to have knee surgery in a month, I tore tendons in my knee and it needs to be fixed. It is not a great idea to put yourself in a healthcare facility unless you are vaccinated, thus my hurry.

But there's a chance, two in fact, and I'm going to work hard to make it work.
